“Our wedding day was perfect, the ceremony felt personal, relaxed and exactly how we wanted to start our celebration of love.”
Meeting the couple

I met Hannah and Stephanie in a local coffee shop on a relatively sunny day. The nerves were tingling while I awaited a new couple arriving to discuss their exciting wedding plans. The nerves weren’t required though; they were a lovely couple. With Hannah and I both chatty as anything we never seemed to run out of things to say. When they left our first coffee meetup to think things through, I secretly hoped they’d book me. It was truly wonderful when they sent a text not long after to say they’d love to have me as their celebrant!
On the day
Their August wedding was held at Three Hills Barn in Cumbria. A gorgeous, 19th-century converted barn in the Cumbrian countryside, perfect for chic, rustic weddings.

The ceremony started with me asking everyone to turn their phones off and pack them away. There is always someone who will rebel against the “rules” though, isn’t there? [This gave me the great idea to ask guests, in unplugged ceremonies since then, to get selfies of themselves before packing their phones away and it works a charm. Plus, it is always good fun!]
Samantha, their rugby coach came up to read an excerpt of well known words by Bob Marley for Hannah & Steph before I spoke a little about them and their gorgeous love story.

A beautiful hand-tying followed the reading. A colour which represented something special or meaningful to the couple was assigned to each family member who participated. The family members came up in pairs to place the ribbons, they shared a moment with Han & Steph before I did my magic, which meant they could then tie the knot!
It was time for the vows where laughter & tears flowed, from both the couple and their guests! So utterly beautiful. I cried reading them before the ceremony (always good to prepare yourself so you don’t cry during the ceremony. All the same, I had to hold back tears on the day, as did Hannah, obviously!)

After drying our eyes, the couple exchanged rings before I concluded the ceremony and announced them to their guests.

“Our guests still, 4 years later, bring up to us how much they loved our ceremony”

Many tears and so much joy and rowdiness (their whole rugby team were in attendance!) from a fantastic bunch of guests brought the ceremony to a close as the couple walked back down the aisle, ready to celebrate!!

Congratulations Mrs & Mrs M!

A gorgeous wedding for a fabulous couple.
